Illegal online casinos?
Selling their services online, casinos can be deemed illegal if certain laws are not adhered to. The Ministry of the Interior is responsible for granting authorization for the establishment and operation of both land-based and online casinos. It is mandated by the laws of June 15, 1907 and January 5, 1988 that the request for authorization must be submitted by a spa town, a seaside resort, or a city with a population of over 500,000, which also houses an opera house or an orchestra. Any other physical or virtual establishments that offer gambling in violation of these two agreements would be considered illegal. Additionally, according to the law of July 12, 1983, engaging in the operation of a gambling establishment, including acting as a banker, where the public is admitted freely, even with the requirement of a referral, is punishable with imprisonment for two years and a fine of $30,000.
It is important to note a significant difference.
Apparently, online casino operators are not necessarily based in countries where online gambling is legalized, nor do they always hold legal licenses.
